Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for insomnia (CBTI) is a skills-based, non-pharmacological, first-line intervention for chronic insomnia.  Extensive research has shown CBT-I to be: effective for insomnia that is comorbid with depression; to produce significant improvements in primary insomnia equivalent to those acheived during acute treatment with hypnotic medications; to reduce nocturnal wakefulness; to increase sleep efficiency; to improve subjective sleep quality; and that effects of CBT-I are sustaining.  This course prepares learners to effectively use CBT-I.
