Recovery Counselling Services is Seeking a Female Addiction Counsellor: Flexible Part Time Hours-Yonge and York Mills Area Since 1995 Recovery Counselling Services has been providing innovative outpatient therapeutic and case management services to individuals and families, specializing in the treatment of substance use and concurrent disorders. The primary functions of the RCS Addiction Counsellor’s role are to identify, evaluate, and treat persons who experience problems and dysfunction arising from substance use, addictive behaviours, and mental health issues. Achievement of these functions occurs through the utilization of a detailed assessment process, motivational interviewing, treatment planning, individual, family, and group counselling, case-management (internally with team and externally with treatment centres), and by collaborating with the full RCS team. The successful candidate for this role possesses the following skills, training, and qualifications: The understanding of, and ability to use a breadth of therapeutic strategies, modalities, and interventions working with individuals and their families impacted by substance use disorders and co-occuring mental health issues. The ability to work with clients in crisis. Education and work experience specific to the treatment of adolescent, young adult, and adult clients impacted by substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues. Knowledge of and the ability to provide treatment interventions based upon the 12 Steps and abstinence-based treatment modalities. Experience facilitating process groups, lecturing, and educational presentations. Strong organizational skills that allow for the completion of timely and detailed case notes and ongoing management of client files within a caseload. The successful applicant will have a combination of education, training, and experience in the field of substance use disorder and mental health treatment. An addiction counselling certification from the CACCF or other recognized certification body is required, and/or a relevant professional degree (social work, psychology). Team members of Recovery Counselling Services are contractual workers and as such are paid on a per client basis. The successful candidate will have access to office space, use of equipment and resting materials, a designated phone line, and administrative support provided to them.
