The primary mandate of the clinical supervisor is to:

  • Ensure access to quality specialized inpatient  rehabilitation services to clients who enter the current program;
  • Revise and develop clinical policies and procedures
  • Supervise the clinical team (certified counsellors, trainees, attendants)
  • Participate in the accreditation process with Accreditation Canada and the Quebec Department of Health and Social Services (MSSS)

 

Isuarsivik Treatment Centre has adopted a development plan which provides for an expansion of its services and workforce as well as for the building of a new Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre.  The new Centre will see:

 

-an increased in volume of individual adult clients

-the welcoming of adult clients of both sexes simultaneously

-the delivery of family therapeutic services

 

 

In this context, the Clinical Supervisor plays a crucial role in:

 

·         Coordinating the process to revise Isuarsivik’s approach and adult clinical program to better respond to the needs of the adult population;

·         Preparing Isuarsivik to welcome the anticipated increased volume of clients of both sexes;

·         Coordinating the designing of therapeutic services for families and pregnant women.

 


Function and Duties

 

Under the direction of the Executive Management, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of the inpatient rehabilitation services.

 

 

1.      Management:

  • Supervises and support clinical staff of the Rehabilitation department
  • Provides clinical support to employees of the various departments, in collaboration with the Continued Care Services and Inuit Values, Practices and Pride Department’s coordinators
  • Evaluates the services offered by the Department and makes the necessary changes to meet the needs of clients
  • Develop manualized protocols
  • Serve as on-call manager

 

May be required to assist in individual, family and group therapeutic activities.

 

2.      Planning:

In the context of the opening of the new Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre, the clinical supervisor:

  • Plans and coordinates the revision and adaptation of the current program
  • Plans and coordinates the development of evidence-based family therapeutic services for families and pregnant women
  • Contributes to the devising of the following processes: hiring, training and professional accreditation of the Rehabilitation department staff

 

 

Qualifications

 

Education:

§  University degree in a discipline of social intervention

§  Specialization in addictions

§  Completion of a management program would be considered an asset

 

Work experience:

§  2 years in a supervisor position in the field of social intervention

§  5 years as an addictions counsellor (inpatient and/or outpatient program)

§  Experience in service planning would be considered an asset 

 

Requirements

§  Personal and professional experience in a northern and cross-cultural setting

§  Candidate must be a certified addictions counsellor/clinical supervisor

§  Ability to read, write and speak Inuktitut would be considered an asset

§  Ability to write and speak English is mandatory

§  Healthy lifestyle

 

SALARY/BENEFITS

Working conditions are based on Nunavik’s health and social services network.

Salary will be determined depending on qualifications and experience.

Cost of living differential, transport to and from hiring point (province of Québec) and low

rent fee for accommodation are included in Isuarsivik’s employee benefit package.
